PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolyte type carbon dioxide sensor element not generating a change in electromotive force even if allowed to stand for a long time in an unheated state within an atmosphere high in the concn. of moisture such as a high humidity or dewing atmosphere and shortened in the time from the start of operation to a point of time when electromotive force is stabilized. SOLUTION: A solid electrolyte tipe carbon dioxide sensor element is constituted by forming an acting electrode layer 1 containing an electron conductive material and an auxiliary electrode material and a reference electrode layer 3 containing an electron conductive material on the surface of a solid electrolyte layer 2. The auxiliary electrode material of the acting electrode layer 1 contains carbon oxide of a rare earth element or carbon oxide of a rare earth element and alkali metal carbonate. |
