PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality picture display with a low power consumption and a backlight without flickering and without deteriorating a visual angle characteristic. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is configured fro a liquid crystal panel constituted by holding a liquid crystal layer between two transparent substrates with picture element selecting electrodes formed on at least one of the substrates, and a backlight BL arranged on the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel, and the backlight BL is configured from linear light sources LP arranged along at least one of the edges of a light guide plate GLB consisting of a transparent plate, a reflecting plate RFS arranged on the side opposite to the liquid crystal panel of the light guide plate GLB, and a fluorescent layer PHS formed on the side of the light guide plate GLB of the reflecting plate RFS. |
