The arrangement compresses the digitized video data in real time and stores the compressed data in a digital random access memory. A video and audio data stream is received and stored, and can be read from memory simultaneously with a freely selected time offset. The compressed data are analysed and video sequences are classified. The data are reproduced using the classification results so that certain classes of information, such as advertisements, can be filtered out or replaced.
