摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the initial action of valve opening smooth to considerably improve a valve opening delay by communicating a part directly upstream a valve element sliding part with a swirling fuel flow generating part through a larger area than the area of a valve element sliding clearance in at least the initial period of valve opening action of a fuel injection valve. SOLUTION: When a ball valve element 16b of a needle valve 16 in a valve device of a fuel injection valve for cylinder injection is totally closed, a position K1 in which the ball valve element 16b abuts on the inner diameter of a turning body 17 is set into a position downstream a groove bottom part 18a of a turning groove 18 by l1, and a clearance between a needle part 16a and the inner diameter of the turning body 17 is communicated with the turning groove 18 part. During initial action of valve opening, fuel flow passing this passage exists to generate pressure difference between the pressure P3 in the clearance between the needle part 16a and the inner diameter of the turning body 17 and the pressure P4 in a hollow part of a valve body 12 (P3<P4). Valve closing force action upon the ball valve element 16b is thereby reduced to make the initial action of valve opening smooth and thereby to improve a valve opening delay considerably.
