PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording reproducer with an automatic chapter forming function which automatically forms chapters. SOLUTION: Picture recording is temporarily stopped during recording and then resumed at a position. This position is taken as the boundary of a chapter, thus automatically forming the chapters.
