PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device which is suitable for being made small and thin and is suitable to adjust a frequency. SOLUTION: This surface acoustic wave device comprises a surface acoustic wave resonator 14, a package base 12 provided with an external electrode 20 to which an interdigital electrode of the surface acoustic wave resonator 14 is electrically connected, an insulating plate 18 arranged between the package base 12 and the surface acoustic wave resonator 14, wherein a circumferential part of a top surface is connected to the surface acoustic wave resonator 14 through a connecting member 16, and a capacitor and/or a coil provided in the insulating plate 18 with the interdigital electrode connected thereto to adjust the resonance frequency of the surface acoustic wave resonator 14.
