An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a black matrix and column spacers integrally while minimizing a step difference between the black matrix and color filters, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost. An LCD comprises a color filter substrate(110) for displaying colors by using light incident from the outside, a thin film transistor substrate(210), and a liquid crystal layer formed between the color filter substrate and the thin film transistor substrate. The color filter substrate includes color filters formed on a first substrate(120), a black matrix(130) of which a portion is positioned on the color filters, and column spacers(140) protruded from the black matrix and formed with the black matrix in one body. The thin film transistor substrate includes thin film transistors(230) and pixel electrodes(250) formed on a second substrate(220). The thin film transistor substrate is distanced from the color filter substrate by the column spacers of the color filter substrate. The thin film transistor substrate is bound to the color filter substrate by a sealant.
