摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a titled baked flux for welding which has good high speed welding operability and yields highly tough weld metal by selecting adequately the chemical compsn. in the flux and specifying the amt. of the gas to be generated in the flux, and the grain size and bulk density of the flux. CONSTITUTION:A baked flux for high speed submerged arc welding consists essentially of 12-24% SiO2, 9-20% TiO2, 15-25% Al2O3, 8-15% MnO, 18- 25% MgO, 1-13% CaO, 10-20% CaF2 and <=2% FeO. The amt. of the gas to be generated by the flux in the stage of welding in this compsn. is specified to 1.5-3%. The median diameter of the particles occupying 50% in the cumulative grain size distribution of the flux particles is regulated in a range of 500-800mum and the particles of <=295mum particle size in the flux are kept at <=15% of the entire part. The specific bulk density of the flux is made 0.7-1.2g/cm<3>. A good bead shape and a defectless tough weld metal are obtd. by such flux.
