PURPOSE:To minimize segregation of C and to cast continuously high-carbon chormium bearing steel by providing electromagnetic stirrers in the positions of specific solidification rates in the cross section of a billet. CONSTITUTION:Electromagnetic stirrers EMS- I and EMS-II are respectively provided in the position where the solidification rate in the cross section of a billet 1 is 20-75% and in the position where it is 75-99%, and casting is performed. The most effective electromagnetic stirring is realized and the central segregation is minimized by combining the EMS- I at the low solidification rate with the EMS-II. The high-carbon chromium bearing steel to be cast continuously by the above-mentioned method is the steel contg. 0.80-1.20% C, <=1.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn and 0.5-2.0% Cr and consisting of the balance substantially Fe. |
