A double-ended beam load cell comprises a solid measuring body with a significantly greater centre diameter than the remainder of the beam. A bore passes throug h this greater diameter centre section to provide means for load introduction while providing free rotation to reduce induction of unwanted longitudinal moments within th e cell. Open-ended, U-shaped beam supporting sections allow free rotation to redu ce induction of unwanted rotational forces within the load cell. Pins installed through the U-shaped beam supporting sections allow captivation of the load cell within the entire assembly.
