PURPOSE:To enable quantitative analysis of the specific component in a fluid sample with good sensitivity, accuracy and reproducibility by using an aryl mercury deriv. as a material which conjugates specifically with the enzyme section of labeling material and modulates the signal arising from the enzyme. CONSTITUTION:A material B which can conjugate specifically with the specific component A in the fluid sample and the aryl mercury deriv. which conjugates specifically with the labeling section of the labeling material C not conjugated with the material B and modulates the signal arising from the labeling material are immobilized to a carrier of a porous reaction layer 1. A specified amt. of the fluid sample is weighed and is mixed with the specified amt. of the labeling material C and the mixture is dropped onto the porous reaction layer 1. Then, the specific component A and the labeling material C react competitively with the material B and part of the labeling material is immobilized if the labeling material C is the material formed by labeling enzyme to the specific component A. The unreacted labeling material C reacts with the material D. The concn. of the specific component in the unknown fluid sample is known from the intensity of the signal arising from the labeling enzyme of the labeling material C by using a calibration curve.
