PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the protocol of a video interface between an image processing controller and a mechanical controller in a print engine. SOLUTION: The electronic printer comprises an image processing controller 16 performing image processing of a print job, and a print engine 18 having a minimum print cycle of forming images of one or a plurality of sheets simultaneously on an intermediate medium and transferring the images to a print medium being discharged. In response to a plurality of print commands being fed from the image processing controller and a set command being fed for every print page following to the print command, a mechanical controller 20 in the print engine sets print parameters for every print page and begins printing in response to a go command being fed following to a desired number of print commands. The number of the set commands represents the number of print sheets in one minimum print cycle and the go command controls the print start timing of the minimum print cycle. |
