PURPOSE: A method for providing an advertisement before telephone conversation using a mobile terminal is provided to download the contents of an advertisement from a base station and to display the advertisement until a telephone call is connected. CONSTITUTION: If a user inputs a telephone number and pushes the "SEND" button, a base station judges whether the user is a user to receive advertisement data(S2). In case that the user is a user to receive advertisement data, the user's mobile terminal starts to download advertisement data from the base station(S3). The mobile terminal decodes the downloaded advertisement data and sends the decoded data to the LCD so that the contents of the advertisement can be displayed. The user watches the advertisement until a telephone call with the other side is connected(S4). If the telephone call is connected(S5), the mobile terminal stops displaying the advertisement data and outputs a call start message and a dial tone after sending a message to inform that the call has been connected(S6).
