Hydraulic motor having a ring shaped runner (2) rotatably mounted between a housing (1) and an anvil (19) secured to the housing, with the housing having an inner circumference section (groove 16) with an enlarged radius (R1) and an inner circumference section with a smaller radius (R2). The anvil has an outer circumference section with a larger radius (R3) and a smaller radius (R4), and the runner has radially displaceable sliding pieces (9-12) one of the ends of which lie against the inner circumference of the housing and the other against the outer circumference of the anvil.
