PURPOSE:To decrease the abrasion of a spark gap and to increase the stability of main discharge, by connecting the series circuit of a preparatory excitation spark gap and a preparatory excitation distributing coil to a thyratron through a preparatory excitation charging capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A thyratron 7 is turned on when a thyratron trigger signal 15 is applied to the thyratron 7 under a state that a preparatory excitation charging capacitor 13 has been charged to high voltage through a preparatory excitation charging coil 14. Next the charges of the capacitor 13 charged pass a preparatory excitation spark gap 2 and a preparatory excitation distributing coil 2. On this occasion, ultraviolet rays by the spark at the spark gap 2 is irradiate main discharging electrodes 3 as preparatory excitation light. Besides the charges of a capacitor 6 charged charge a peaking capacitor 1 by the conduction of the thyratron 7 as shifting current 10. And high voltage is applied between the two main discharging electrodes 3, glow discharge induced by the preparatory excitation light starts quickly, main discharge current 11 flows, and main discharge 5 occurs between the main discharging electrodes 5. |
