PURPOSE:To decrease the abrasion of a spark gap and to increase the stability of main discharge, by connecting the series circuit of a preparatory excitation spark gap and a preparatory excitation distributing capacitor to a thyratron through a preparatory excitation charging capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A thyratron trigger signal 15 is applied to a thyratron 7 under a state that a preparatory excitation charging capacitor 13 has been charged through a preparatory excitation charging coil 14, the thyratron 7 is turned on, and the charges of the capacitor 13 charged pass a preparatory excitation spark gap 2 and a preparatory excitation distributing capacitor 12 is charged. On this occasion, ultraviolet rays by the spark at the spark gap 2 irradiate main discharging electrodes 3 as preparatory excitation light. Besides the charges of a capacitor 6 charged charge a peaking capacitor 1 by the conduction of the thyratron 7 as shifting current 10. And high voltage is applied between the main discharging electrodes 3, and glow discharge induced by the excitation light starts quickly. And main discharge current 11 flows as pulselike large current, and main discharge 5 occurs between the electrodes 3. |
