The additional mirror is mounted at the rear of the vehicle and when deployed gives the driver a clear view of the otherwise obstructed angles. The mirror is on servo-driven adjustable supports and is retracted when not required. The mirror deployment takes account of the movement of the rear door of the vehicle and moves the supports out of the way of the door action. The mirror is automatically retracted when the vehicle is moving in forward gear, and can be automatically deployed when reversing. Sensors on the mirror mounting and on the door are linked to a processor control, as are sensors on the transmission etc. In the retracted position the mirror is pulled into a rear spoiler (2).
