The blower system, to blow a medium such as hot steam or air against a paper web or web carrier in a papermaking machine, has a barrier (1.3) before the jets (1.2) in the direction of web (2) travel. It is aligned across the line of travel, and at least partially bridges the gap between the web and jets. Pref. the barrier (1.3) bridges the whole of the intermediate zone, with a sliding action against the web (2) to be subjected to the blowing effect. The barrier (1.3) has a hump shape, on a vertical section, with a hump peak against the web (2). The barrier (1.3) is either a solid rod or a flexible bar. USE/ADVANTAGE - The blower system in a papermaking machine, is for the cleaning, heating or cooling of a paper web or the blanket or fourdrinier of a papermaking machine.
