摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide parallelized ion beams useful for flying time mass spectrometry by compressing ions in an area of an ion trap having two end cap electrodes, and simultaneously impressing voltages having different polarity on both electrodes. SOLUTION: An ion trap 12 is formed as a quadrupole ion trap. End cap electrodes 22 and 24 have a hyperboloidal surface, and contain opening parts 26 and 28. The opening part 26 responds to an electron beam derived from an electron beam source 14, and transmits parallel ion beams to a flying time mass spectrometer 16 through the opening part 28. When the sufficient number of ions are captured in an internal interactive area of the ion trap 12 between the electrodes 20, 22 and 24, the ions are simultaneously attracted from its interactive area, and are pushed out from its area. Lastly, high voltage DC pulses having opposite polarity are simultaneously supplied to the end cap electrodes 22 and 24 by high voltage DC pulse sources 36 and 38.
