The invention concerns the use of thermoplastic moulding materials which are different from ABS and which, in relation to the sum of the quantities of components A, B, C and optionally D resulting in a total of 100 wt %, contain a) 1-98 wt %, preferably 1-20 wt %, in particular 1-15 wt % of a particulate emulsion polymer with a glass transition temperature of less than 0 DEG C and a mean particle size of 50-1000 nm, preferably 50-500 nm as component A, b) 1-98 wt %, preferably 3-30 wt %, in particular 5-25 wt % of at least one semi-crystalline polymer as component B, c) 1-98 wt %, preferably 50-95 wt %, particular 60-90 wt % polycarbonates as component C and d) 0-50 wt % fibre or particle-shaped filling materials or their mixtures as component D, for producing housings of electric appliances containing small transformers.
