A process for the preparation of glycidyl ethers, characterized by reacting an epoxy compound represented by general formula (1) with an alcohol in the presence of a fluorine salt, wherein X is halogeno or sulfonyloxy. The process makes it possible to prepare glycidyl ethers and optical isomers thereof useful as internediates for the synthesis of drugs by easy and simple means in high yields, and the optical isomers prepared by the process have a high optical purity.
