PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light leakage in a bus-line type liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In the bus-line light shielding type liquid crystal display device where the periphery of a picture element is shielded from light by a gate bus- line 15A and a data bus-line 17; an angle formed by the orientation direction of a 1st alignment layer with the data bus-line is within 10 deg. to 30 deg., and the aligning direction of a 2nd alignment layer is orthogonal to that of the 1st alignment layer, and the pretilt angle of the 1st and the 2nd alignment layers is >=3 deg..
