WAVELENGTH CONVERTING DEVICE AND ULTRAVIOLET LASER DEVICE USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength converting device having high wavelength converting efficiency and a compact constitution without requiring a laser beam having a high peak output as the fundamental wave. SOLUTION: This wavelength converting device is provided with beam central position adjusting means 24, 25 for almost making the central position of a laser beam with frequencyω1 coincident with the central position of a laser beam with frequency 2ω2 (4ω1 ) in a second nonlinear optical crystal 21 by using a common optical element and a beam shape matching means 26 for matching the beam shape of the laser beam with frequencyω1 to the beam shape of the laser beam with frequency 2ω2 (4ω1 ) in the second nonlinear optical crystal 21 by using the common optical element.
