PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing unit which shows improved handling of input color values that copes with a polygon. SOLUTION: This device receives plural input color values that correspond to a polygon (510), receives a color mode value that shows a method which is used when the input color values execute a write operation to the polygon (520), transfers plural input color values that are stored in an appropriate storage position in a color value register to a color value register file in accordance with the received color mode value (530) and generates an output color value for the polygon by using one or more plural input color values which are stored in the color value register file.
