CELL EXCHANGE SYSTEM ADOPTING ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSFER MODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain diversified multimedia services by adopting the ATM cell switching technology for an existing channel exchange system. SOLUTION: The system is provided with pluralities of nodes 30-1-30-n that are connected between a PCM method highway 301 and a 155 Mops high speed link 401 of the ATM system to perform conversion between subscriber data and ATM cells. An ATM switching section 40 connecting with pluralities of the nodes 30-1-30-n via the 155 Mops high speed link 401 discriminates a reception destination from the header information of ATM cells sent from the nodes 30-1-30-n so that routing to a subscriber call is attained.
