<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically communicate signals with diversified types and at various transmission rates with high reliability such as audio, picture and high speed data. SOLUTION: An MSP 70 of this multimedia signal processor selects a specific ATM IF 10-1 on the basis of a caller network a called network and types of data or the like and rewrites a header of an ATM cell to select a prescribed SPU 750-m as a destination. An AAL CLAD 7000-m of the SPU 750-m disassembles the ATM cells and extracts, e.g. audio information. A decoder 7210 receives the audio information to select an audio signal processing section 7230, where the audio information is converted according to a prescribed protocol stack. An AAL CLAD 7100-m assembles the converted data into an ATM cell of an AAL type suitable for a called party via a selector 7220. An ATM IF 710-1 rewrites a header of the ATM cell to reach a proper destination and outputs the resulting cell.</p> |
