PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart card reader which is capable of reducing the dimension of a chip card reader, and acquiring an extremely flat design with high reliability by simplifying the structure of a mechanical lock means. SOLUTION: This smart card reader 10 is constituted so that a smart card 100 can be accepted, and that the smart card 100 can be locked at a lock position, and provided with a housing 11, a contact device 30, and a contact member to be brought into contact with the card side contact of the smart card when the smart card is present at a reading position inside the housing. This smart card reader 10 is provided with a mechanical lock means 50 for locking and unlocking the smart card, and the mechanical lock means is provided with a lock slide 52 and a lock lever mechanism 51. The lock slide is extended along the housing to the outside of the housing. The lock lever mechanism is arranged in front of the contact device when viewed from the inserting direction of the card. The lock lever mechanism is arranged at the upper part of the smart card so that the lock slide can be locked to the reading position. |
