The evaluation takes transverse sections through a part formed from sheet metal, based on stored three-dimensional data. Two transverse sections are selected, and the difference between their peripheral lengths calculated. This, together with distance between the sections, is used to access a decision table which indicates for each pair of values whether plastic forming is suitable.
