PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographed image projection apparatus that is adaptive to various corrections needed to optimize a photographed image prior to projection and can make accurate correction and a method for correcting the photographed image. SOLUTION: An arbitrary document etc., is photographed by a document camera 3 and a photographed image which is obtained by the above photographing is sent to a personal computer (S101). The personal computer after performing for the photographed image various image processes such as correction of distortion including trapezoidal distortion, rotation processing, and cutting based upon image information obtained from the photographed image sends the image having been processed to a projector (S102 to S105). Then the image having been processed is projected by the projector (S106). Since the photographed image is corrected based upon the image information obtained from the photographed image, not only a trapezoidal distortion correction, but also various corrections can be made for the photographed image.
