PURPOSE: A projection-type display device using a liquid crystal display is provided to increase the light efficiency three times with a single liquid crystal display by using all the incident light after separating light into three colors with a color separating optical system. CONSTITUTION: A projection-type display device using a liquid crystal display includes a light source(110) for generating light, an illumination optical system(120) mounted to a light projection side of the light source, a color separating optical system(130) mounted to a light projection side of the illumination optical system for separating projected light into red, green and blue light, a PBS(Polarized Beam Splitter;140) mounted in a reflection direction of the red, green, and blue light for reflecting and transmitting light of a predetermined direction, a liquid crystal display(LCD;160) mounted at a lower part of the PBS for generating a predetermined image signal by controlling incident angles and projection angles of the red, green and blue light, and a transmission lens mounted on the PBS for focusing the image signal of the LCD on a screen(190).
