摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which is easy in its maintenance and keeps good image quality by preventing toner from entering a laser scanner unit 4 from a development area while suppressing temperature rising in the image forming device. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic image forming device has a partition wall 5 between a laser irradiation optical path 4c and a rotary unit 1 and the partition wall 5 has a hole 5a for in-machine air-passage formation; and one or more fans 11 are arranged on the side of the rotary unit 1 about the partition wall and one or more fans 12 are provided on the side of the laser irradiation optical path 4c about the partition wall 5. During image formation, the fans 11 and 12 are rotated in such directions that the fan 11 discharges the atmosphere in the device to the outside and the fan 12 sucks the outside air into the device. In image formation standby mode, the fans 11 and 12 are rotated in such directions that they discharge the atmosphere in the device. The rotating speeds of the fans 11 and 12 are made faster in the image formation standby mode than in the image formation to reduce noise and save electric power.
