In a clad steel comprising a carbon steel or a low alloy steel or a stainless steel as a base steel and a cladding metal bonded to it the base steel has added thereto one or more carbon fixing elements selected from Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta and Cr in order to prevent any carbon contained in the base steel from being transferred into the cladding metal through diffusion owing to the subjection of the clad steel to a heat process during or after manufacturing. By the introduction of a new idea of Ti equivalent the addition of the optimum amounts of the carbon fixing elements is based on amounts relative to the amount of carbon contained in the base steel. |
