A method for operating a fuel cell is provided to increase the power of the fuel cell by effectively suppressing the flooding while securing enough ion conductivity. A method for operating a fuel cell which selectively supplies humidified gas or dried gas as an oxidizer to a cathode comprises the steps of: (S1) supplying humidified gas until constant power is maintained or power is lowered; (S2) supplying dried gas to obtain power greater than average output of (S1) step; and (S3) after the predetermined power if the power is lowered, supplying humidified gas to increase the power, thereby maintaining the power. Also, if the power falls down again, dried gas is supplied in order to increase the power, thereby maintaining the power. |
