BRICK CONTAINING CARBON WHICH HAS LOW HEAT CONDUCTION LAYER ON BACKSIDE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brick containing carbon which can rectify a defect of 'large heat dissipation through a lining of fire-resisting material due to high heat conductivity of the brick containing carbon' and especially can eliminate the defect without causing problems such as 'an increase of application man-hour and a decrease of an internal volume' and/or 'an increase of a brick forming man-hour and a crack initiation in a boundary layer of a different kind of fire-resisting material' and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: This is 'a brick containing carbon having a low heat conduction layer in its backside' which has at least an oxidized carbon layer 13 from the backside 11 toward an operating side 12 while the carbon content of the layer 13 is 1/3 or less than the carbon content of the operating side 12 which is a part of non-oxidized part 14. The method of manufacturing the brick is to carry out oxidation firing of the backside 11 of the brick at 800 deg.C or more.
