PURPOSE:To provide the subject new p-xylylene compound capable of producing a heat-sensitive recording material capable of developing an image excellent in durabilities such as moisture heat resistance and water resistance. CONSTITUTION:1,4-Bis(4'-isopropenylphenyloxymethyl)benzene of formula I. This compound can be obtained by reacting a p-xylylene derivative of formula II (X is a halogen, formula III, CH3 or SO3) with 4-isopropenylphenol in the presence of a base in a polar solvent. The objective heat-sensitive recording material improved in durability can be obtained by using 100 pts.wt. electron- donative chromophoric compound, 50 to 700 pts.wt., preferably 100 to 500 pts.wt. electron-accepting compound, 10 to 500 pts.wt., preferably 20 to 400 pts.wt. compound of formula I and, as necessary, 10 to 500 pts.wt., preferably 20 to 400 pts.wt. fusible compound (a compound having 60 to 150 deg.C melting point) as a sensitizer. |
