PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that prevents defects in a pad part due to overflow of an alignment liquid and protects a contour light-shielding layer, and a manufacturing method of the same.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a substrate that includes a display area and a peripheral area; a thin-film transistor that is located on the substrate; a pixel electrode that is connected with the thin-film transistor; a partition wall that is located along the peripheral area; a roof layer that is arranged opposite to the pixel electrode and a roof pattern that covers the partition wall; and a liquid crystal layer that is located between the pixel electrode and the roof layer and formed of a plurality of microcavities including liquid crystal molecules. The roof layer and the roof pattern are formed of at least one inorganic film.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
