PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intravenous catheter device, which is formed so that the tip of a needle can not puncture an object or human being when the needle is moved away from a catheter. SOLUTION: This intravenous catheter device is provided with a tubular catheter 24 having a hub 26 of the catheter and a needle 16 equipped with a hub 12 of the needle. The needle 16 passes through a needle protecting means 12 located in a hollow space 27 of the hub 26 of the catheter. The needle 16 is provided with an irregularly configured portion 138 to be fitted with the needle protecting means 120 when pulling in the needle 16, the needle protecting means 120 is pulled out as well by fitting, and the needle protecting means 120 protects a needle tip 18. In order to hold the needle protecting means 120, an annular projection 136a is provided on the inner wall of the hub 26 of the catheter and the projection 136a is formed continuous or while having a break. |
