The steel is composed by wt. of : 0.02-0.50 % C, 0.3-2% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, and 2-6% Cr, the balance being Fe. In the mfr. (a) a steel of the above compsn. is prepd. (b) austenised at 950-1150 degrees C for 3 min-1 hr. (c) cooled to 400-600 degrees C, (d) opt. mechanically deformed by 20-90% (e) cooled to ambient temp. and (f) annealed at 0-600 degrees C for 1/2-24 hrs.
