The invention relates to a storage box which is composed of a large number of individual folded compartments which succeed one another in a row or column and are inclined with respect to a base surface, is used for the easily understandable accommodation of standardised filing cards, stock cards, work cards, forms or the like, is expandable and can be used in a horizontal or suspended arrangement. A box of this type is intended to be a multipurpose box which can be used for a variety of purposes without taking up much space. It also attempts to encourage a methodical approach to learning and the completion of sequences of tasks at work. This is achieved in that subsidiary folded compartments of the same depth are assigned to the individual folding compartments on the right and/or on the left of the latter, extend transversely to the column, form lines and extend over a smaller distance in the line direction than the individual folded compartments, the folded compartments accommodating special inserts (Fig. 9). <IMAGE>
