A medium composition for the identification of microorganisms is disclosed. Tne medium is used for the examination of aerobic sugar assimilation of microorganisms which are Gram-negative bacilli and are incapable of anaerobically utilizing glucose. The present medium composition comprises peptone, sodiuim chloride, a sugar, an alkali metal dihydrogenphosphate, a dialkali metal hydrogenphosphate and a pH indicator in specified proportions and is used in solution in water. |
