PURPOSE:To smooth the rotation of an apparatus by dividing an electrode on one surface of a flat plate piezoelectric vibrator into two parts or more and by applying AC voltage with a resonance frequency. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric vibrator 5 is equipped with split electrodes 6a, 6b divided in two parts on one surface and with an electrode 7 on the other surface. When AC voltage is applied to a terminal 8a connected with said split electrode 6a and a terminal 9 connected with said electrode 7 and when the length and width of said vibrator 5 are set so that half wavelength of longitudinal vibration A and one wavelength of transverse vibration B of the vibrator 5 coincide with each other, elliptical vibration is generated by the composite vibration of said vibrations. Also when AC voltage is applied to a terminal 8b connected with said split electrode 6b and the terminal 9 connected with said electrode 7, said elliptical vibration by the composite vibration is generated reversely. Thus, when a driven body is brought into contact with the end face of the piezoelectric body vibrator 5, said driven body can be driven in the forward and reverse directions by the forward and reverse elliptical vibrations. |
