发明名称 Two-wheel brake operated by back-pedalling
摘要 By virtue of the brake-locking mechanism, already known from the last century, on the bottom-bracket bearing spindle, every modern bicycle brake may also be operated by back-pedalling if, in accordance with the invention, flexible transmission means for the braking force are used. By using a freewheel locking mechanism with only two latching positions which correspond to the horizontal crank-arm positions, it is ensured that from any position of the cranks back-pedalling brings about a transfer directly into the optimum braking position. Attempts to brake in the slack points are hence ruled out. The greater leg force allows both brakes to be operated simultaneously. By connecting the two two-wheel brakes in parallel by way of a piece of wood as balance, the two brakes can participate to any desired extent in the braking process. The larger travel of the pedal cranks relative to the hand lever also makes all-wheel braking possible by connecting the two brakes in series. By using different travel- and power-limiting devices the brakes, on the one hand, may be protected from overload and, on the other hand, the wheels may be protected from locking.
