PURPOSE:To obtain a denitrification catalyst low in pressure loss and having abrasion resistance by laminating and baking a sheet like material made of an inorg. fiber and an inorg. core material having an m.p. lower than that of said material to form a carrier and supporting a catalytic component by said carrier. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. material based on an inorg. raw material powder densified by sintering at 1000 deg.C or lower such as clay mineral or low m.p. glass is used as a core material 1 and sandwiched between sheets 2 made of an inorg. fiber such as a ceramic fiber to prepare a laminar catalyst carrier base material. A catalytic component consisting of titanium oxide and oxide of at least one element selected from vanadium, molybdenum and tungsten is supported by said catalyst carrier base material. By this method, a lightweight plate-shaped catalyst having high strength and abrasion resistance, low in pressure loss and excellent in denitrification capacity is obtained. |
