A disc brake pad and shim assembly consists of a disc brake pad having a back plate (1) with spigot holes (4) which are incompletely filled and a shim (3) with protrusions (7) extending into the unfilled regions of the spigot holes (4), to stop slippage of the shim (3) across the back plate (1) in service.
