Motor vehicle bodywork - has cross-member which also serves for attachment of front suspension

The bodywork of a motor vehicle is reinforced by means of a cross-member (2). The cross-member has a hole (3a, 4d) near each end to receive the struts and corresponding springs of the front suspension system. The holes (3a, 4d) are formed in the flat areas (3, 4) by which the cross-member is attached to the bodywork. The middle part (2) of the cross-member is twisted to form the vertical wall of the engine bay of the motor vehicle. The cross-member is made from sheet metal and a reinforcing rib is formed in the middle part (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Bodywork cross-member which also forms an attachment for the front suspension.
