摘要	The camshaft (3) is driven (e.g. by belt or pulley) from a crankshaft through gear wheel (5) coupled to an extension (2). This acts as the ring gear of a planetary-type gearbox with an intermediary gear attached to the camshaft by bolt (20). An eccentric planet gear carrier (17) is fixed to the rotor (21) of an electric motor whose stator (22) is fixed in the housing (34). Excitation of the motor will cause relative movement between the camshaft gear (5) and the camshaft (3). ADVANTAGE - Exact positioning, no slip rings, min. friction loss. Minimises fuel consumption.
