The rotor includes at least two discs which can rotate relative to each other on the same axis. One disc carries magnets and the other coils. The magnets (M) are star shaped and the windings (W) have a corresponding shape with radial sides (S). The number of sides corresponds to the sides of the magnets. The winding may be meander-shaped and comprises several windings of a thin wire. A sandwich construction may be used having alternating magnet-carrying and coil carrying discs. USE/ADVANTAGE - For e.g. air raid shelters, provides emergency lighting, ventilation, radio reception etc.. Also for wind energy generation or recuperation in electric or hybrid vehicles. Very compact, low loss. Reaches mains voltage of 220 Volts even at low rotation rate. Easier rotation, higher efficiency.
