REMOTE VIDEO RECORDING AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To build up a system by which a televised program can be remotely viewed. SOLUTION: A local user gives a recording instruction to a remote computing device through the Internet. The remote computing device records a receptible multicast communication program according to a received recording instruction, compresses the recorded program and encodes the compressed program to have a designated media form. Or the user may designate a file storing the encoded multicast communication program and divide the file into small-sized files before being transferred to other computer that is accessible by the user through the Internet. The remote computing device may receive the recording instruction by a pulse telephone or may be integrated in a existing videocassette recorder.
