Process for permanent hair waving

Permanent shaping of keratin material involves () appln. of a compsn. contg. a carboxylic acd and/or an associated salt, with pH 2.5-7, (ii) rinsing, (iii) appln. of a reducing compsn. contg. a thiol, with means for putting the material under tension being used before, during or after the appln. of the reducing compsn. or before the appln. of the acid compsn., (iv) rinsing, (v) appln. of an oxidising compsn., and (vi) rinsing. The means for applying tension to the material are removed directly before or after stage (vi).
