The suction collector has a conduit (4) to receive the incoming items and to deliver them to a storage chamber (3). The conduit has slots to allow passage of air through its walls. A current of air (C) is directed from the inlet toward the outlet. The air circulating in the conduit is drawn by a suction unit (12), Venturi nozzle (21) with a convergent passage and a divergent passage is formed in the conduit to ensure continued passage of the collected items. Air is drawn in through the convergent passage by the suction unit and delivered into the divergent passage. The collection chamber is held at atmospheric pressure.
